The South Australian branch of the Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA) is looking to build awareness in the building and civil construction industries of actions taken by CICA nationally to develop and evolve standards.

These standards are for:

  • crane inspection (CraneSafe - www.cica.com.au/cranesafe); and
  • VOC assessment (CrewSafe - a standardised VOC assessment tool for the Australian crane industry with machine-specific, impartial, peer assessment and documented evidence of competency - www.crewsafe.com.au).

It is doing this through an Industry Day to be held in the centrally located Torrens Parade Ground in Adelaide on Friday, June 29. Attendance is free, parking is available at thee grounds, and there is a choice of morning (8am-12pm) or afternoon (1pm - 5pm) sessions.

The aim of the event is to build awareness of CraneSafe, CrewSafe and other CICA initiatives in industries using crane services, with a view to incorporating accepted industry-developed standardised programs into OHS documentation and systems of user industries rather than have a fragmented approach that adds cost and confusion.

CICA SA members will be providing a range of equipment for the Industry Day to allow live demonstrations to take place. Bookings can be made here.
