One of Australia’s largest air-rights developments has topped out as part of property developer Golden Age Group’s $430 million Sky Garden project.
Located on top of The Glen shopping centre Sky Garden includes 536 apartments across three buildings in Melbourne’s suburb of Glen Waverley. The large scale build will see 613 residential car parks constructed below the centre and the installation of 22,000 square metres of glass façade.
It was designed in collaboration with Rothelowman and DKO Architecture, featuring landscaping by Aspect Studios.
Construction on any given day has seen up to 400 workers on site.
The developers purchased the air rights above the shopping centre form Vicinity Centres in 2017 for $60 million. Upon completion, it will be home to around 1550 residents.

Sky Garden originally launched to market featuring 555 one, two and three-bedroom residence, but the number has dwindled due to a demand for three-bedders, leading to a number of amalgamations.
Golden Age Group Director Jeff Xu said the topping out of Sky Garden signifies the reality of a long-held design vision for the company.
“Sky Garden is a landmark and unprecedented feat of a project we are incredibly proud of and one we hope puts Melbourne on the global stage alongside cities such as New York, Hong Kong and London.”
