Sydney’s skyline is set to receive its new tallest residential tower, with high-rise developer Greenland Group approved to construct a 235-metre-high building.

Located at 115 Bathurst Street, the $700 million tower will contain 481 residences over 67 storeys.

Designed by BVN and Woods Bagot, Greenland Centre Sydney will match the height of the Spire London project, which is also set to become Western Europe’s tallest residential tower.

Construction on 27 of the towers 67 floors have been completed, with façade panels and services being installed as the floor slabs and lift core rise.

The tower will also include a brand-new feature that Greenland Group has dubbed the ‘Sydney Balcony’.

A glass-enclosed balcony system will project off the building to provide protection from wind and noise but allow for natural ventilation and views of the surrounding parklands. The balcony system has undergone extensive design development, prototyping, testing and quality assurance.

Greenland Group has also retained the site’s original building structure, cutting down the original building’s 27-storey frame down to 24 and removing the remainder of the buildings concrete to reveal the steel framework.

This was reinforced with a new support structure to strengthen and reinforce the new tower.

Greenland Australia Managing Director, Sherwood Luo said sales of the Greenland Centre Sydney apartments have been strong from the beginning, with the first stage of 300 sold out soon after release and all but 10 of Stage 2’s 120 apartments sold out in one day.

“Greenland Centre Sydney is a unique building in many ways, and high demand has reflected this – we only a limited number of apartments left for sale,” Luo said.

“The building has presented many challenges to our project team, however our unwavering commitment to delivering an outstanding building to the City of Sydney has resulted in many innovative solutions that will only add to the building’s unique character and appeal.

“It will truly be a landmark building that will play a distinctive role in transforming Sydney’s future skyline.”
