Job opportunities are available at the Western Sydney Airport which is looking for earthmoving equipment operators and service crews to help level the site of the $5.3 billion project.
Plant mechanics, auto-electricians, light vehicle mechanic, boiler makers, servicemen, refuelers and apprentice mechanics are also being sought by the Western Sydney Airport Company to help service machines at the on-site workshop.
An employment forum will be held to provide potential candidates with an overview of the job opportunities and positions available.
Finance Minister Mathias Cormann said that Western Sydney Airport and its construction contractors were commencing recruitment for the major earthworks package, which will see a significant increase in on-site activity from early next year.
“The major earthworks phase of the project will ramp-up early next year, as part of the task to move 25 million cubic metres within the 1,780 hectare airport site,” Cormann said.

Targets are in place for 30 per cent of the airport’s construction jobs to go to Western Sydney locals.
As of June 2019, locals comprised 50 percent of the total airport workforce.
Member for Lindsay Melissa McIntosh said an information session would be held on 10 December at the Western Sydney International Airport Experience Centre.
“The information session will provide an opportunity for people interested in this work to meet the project team and get an understanding of the type of construction involved in the Western Sydney International Airport,” McIntosh said.
