Hickory completes construction on $150M Hyatt Hotel

Construction company Hickory has completed a $150 million Little Group development, a 20-storey glass tower that will be Australia’s first Hyatt Centric hotel.

Designed by Architectus, with interiors by Hecker Guthrie, Hyatt Centric Melbourne

consists of a six-level podium, the hotel features 278 contemporary guest rooms across 26 levels.

The hotel aims to reflect Melbourne’s vibrant street culture. The guest rooms have been designed with clean, uncomplicated lines and a soft colour palette, and incorporate locally inspired design elements that are intended to reflect the city’s heritage and urban landscape.

Additional guest features include spacious function rooms on level five and level six, a gym, lap pool and steam room.

The hotel features an in-built converged electrical network, which allows hotel staff to control different ‘modes’, including cleaning modes where all the lights are bright and ambience modes where the lights are dimmed for when a guest first enters the room.

This converged network also allows hotel staff to be immediately alerted to required maintenance, preventing interruptions to the guest experience.

Hickory Managing Director, George Abraham, said the company is pleased to complete construction on Hyatt Centric Melbourne.

“The hotel will be a perfect launchpad for guests to explore everything Melbourne has to offer, and we are proud to bring to life the exclusive Hyatt Centric Hotels brand to Australia for the very first time,” Abraham said.

Chairman and Founder of the Little Group, Paul Little, said the company is delighted to be working with Hyatt to launch the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Australia.

“This property brings new life for local, domestic and international visitors to the southwest corner of the Melbourne CBD,” Little said.

We look forward to Melburnians and visitors from further afield celebrating special moments and creating lasting memories at Hyatt Centric Melbourne.”
