Construction is now complete on a new storage facility for Victoria’s regional train network in the Melbourne suburb of Wyndham Vale on the Geleong Line.
The new storage facility is now operational following 10 days of final testing and commissioning works, including extensive driver training to help drivers familiarise themselves with the new infrastructure.
Located north of Wyndham Vale Station, the stabling yard is able to initially house up to six V/Locity trains at any one time. With more networks planned for the future, the facility has been designed to cater for an expansion if required.
- Inland Rail community projects get $44M boost
- Toorak Road level crossing removed with rail bridge
- Cross River Rail construction declared priority area
Buildings for staff amenities, security and utilities were also constructed as part of the project.
Sustainability initiatives were also implemented during construction, including the use of recycled plastic sleepers, using recycled plastic asphalt mix and recycled glass sand.
The stabling yard will now be handed over to V/Line and the Victorian Department of Transport.
