“After 949 days of hard work, I am proud that our people have delivered a state-of-the-art corrections facility that will focus on keeping the community safe and reducing recidivism,” Barr said.

“Since we started on site, 350,000 cubic metres of earth has been moved, 65 buildings have been constructed and 52,300 cubic metres of concrete has been placed.

“Using innovative methods such as precast concrete panels, we were able to deliver this centre on time, benefiting the community through a forecast injection of $560 million into the local economy over 20 years, and the creation of approximately 1100 jobs during construction and 600 jobs once the centre is operational.”
