Three companies have been shortlisted to supply new customer access technology at 10 stations between Marrickville and Bankstown, as part of the Sydney Metro project.

Gilgen Door Systems AG, Hyundai Movex Co. Ltd and Kyosan Electric Manufacturing Co. Ltd. were shortlisted to provide the technology, which includes mechanical gap fillers and platform screen doors. This will allow stations to be fully accessible when metro rail services begin in 2024.

All Sydney Metro stations have been designed to use platform screen doors to keep people and objects such as prams away from the racks and allow trains to get in and out of stations faster.

All platforms will be level with the new metro trains, meaning commuters will no longer need to step up into the train.

The next step of the procurement process will be to test the technology put forward by the three companies for Australian conditions.
