Extra funding for Tasmania’s Building Project Support Program

The Tasmanian Government has added $5.7 million to the second round of the Building Project Support Program.

The program’s first round provided $10 million in funding to support 12 projects with a total value of $50 million.

Based on the success of the program, a second $10 million round was announced and proposals were assessed in 2021.

Tasmanian State Growth Minister Roger Jaensch said there was a very strong response to the second round and the independent panel noted that there were several additional eligible projects that could be supported to get off the ground if more funding was available.

“To help make these projects a reality, the Tasmanian Government has made available an additional $5.7 million above the $10 million initially allocated for Round Two, supporting 20 significant projects that would not have happened without this funding,” Jaensch said.

“The projects include commercial expansions, the establishment of tourism and hospitality businesses and health care facilities.

“All up $188 million in projects will be supported through this funding round and, once completed, will boast more than new 520 ongoing jobs for Tasmanians.”

Harvest Moon is a recipient of funding from the second round of the program, receiving almost $1 million towards its $4.8 million expansion, enabling it to be delivered earlier than originally planned.

Once complete, Harvest Moon will have a dedicated produce facility to support its year-round supply of Tasmanian onions into Woolworths supermarkets.
