Construction Equipment Australia (CEA) has committed $20 million to a new in Darra, Queensland within the Connectwest Industrial Park.

Charter Hall and ESR Australia will develop the 5600 square metre facility on a site area of 18,500 square metres.

CEA has appointed Perth-based BPG Projects as lead project director, partnering with specialist supply chain and property firm TM Insight to design and source the new facility.

The premises will include a servicing workshop with 20 work bays, a parts distribution facility and a 4300 square metre machinery storage yard.

It will also include a 1240 square metre showroom and office space for the sale of products from JCB, Atlas Copco, Ditch Witch, Komptech and Dynapac.

The new development will also incorporate a range of environmentally sustainable design elements, including a PV solar system, rainwater harvesting for amenity re-use and electric vehicle charging stations. These initiatives are part of CEA and the CFC Group’s strategy to establish greater environmentally sustainable sites and work practices across all businesses in Australia and New Zealand.

“As a retailer and distributor of a wide range of global brands, CEA were previously operating out of three premises in Brisbane,” BPG Projects senior development manager Joe Sanfilippo said.

“This new bespoke multi-use site will bring together all brands and streamline sales, servicing, distribution and administrative functions to create a greater experience for CEA customers and dealers across Queensland.”

TM Insight secured a 10 year-term lease for CEA with Charter Hall and ESR Australia and will now also project manage the new build.

Charter Hall managed Core Logistics Partnership Fund Manager, Simon Greig said the CFC facility will be a great addition to the Charter Hall owned Connectwest Industrial Park.

“This transaction builds on our relationship with the CFC Group which commenced in 2016 when CLP purchased the Centurion Transport facility in Hazelmere, WA, in a 17-year sale and leaseback deal,” Greig said.

The site is scheduled for completion in Q3 of 2021.
