Online directory launched for recycled construction materials

Sustainability Victoria has launched a new online directory that features products containing recycled contents for infrastructure projects.

Named Buy Recycled, the directory aims to provide government buyers with easy access to suppliers of recycled material options when considering products for purchasing and infrastructure projects.

It comes as part of a push from government to consider the environmental impact of purchasing infrastructure activities to achieve environmental outcomes and support sustainability goals.

Products listed in the directory include, pavement, piping and irrigation, road base, soils, fencing, furniture and playgrounds.

The online directory comes after the release of the Victorian Social Procurement Framework which requires government buyers to consider three sustainability driven outcomes in each procurement activity.

It will also complement Major Projects Victoria’s Recycled First policy which will see recycled and reused Victorian materials optimised on major infrastructure projects.

Suppliers are encouraged to register and enter product details for the directory. If products meet the criteria, they will be added to the directory.
