VHBA appoints builders for new ambulance branches

Builders have been appointed to construct new ambulance branches in Clyde North, Epping and Oak Park, Melbourne.

Bowden Corporation was selected to construct the Clyde North and Epping branches, while May Constructions has been appointed to deliver the Oak Park branch.

The new Clyde North ambulance branch will include a four-bay ambulance garage and four rest and recline areas for hard working paramedics to rest and recuperate.

At Epping and Oak Park, construction will involve knocking down and rebuilding existing ambulance branches. The Epping branch will have a five-bay ambulance garage and six rest and recline areas and the Oak Park branch will include a six-bay ambulance garage and six rest and recline areas.

All new branches will have training facilities, a fully equipped kitchen and improved security and car parking.

The Victorian Government has committed about $249 million since 2015 to the Ambulance Victoria development program to upgrade and rebuild ambulance branches.

Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) CEO Rob Fiske said modern, advanced and well-located ambulance branches mean Victorians can receive the best lifesaving emergency care.

“With builders appointed and shovels expected to be in the ground shortly, even better emergency care for Victorian families is just around the corner.”

Ambulance Victoria Metropolitan Regional Director Michael Georgiou welcomed the appointment of builders for new ambulance branches.

“This is a significant step towards the construction of new 24-hour branches that will feature the modern and safe facilities our dedicated and hardworking paramedics need,” Georgiou said.
