Tenders to build two important housing projects are now open as part of the Tasmanian Government’s Affordable Housing Action Plan 2019-2023.
Construction of the plan’s Wirksworth development will create 50 full-time construction jobs and provide total economic activity of $30 million.
The Wirksworth facility will be the first of its kind in Tasmania and provide high-quality care and accommodation to elderly residents who are financially disadvantaged, homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

It will include residential care beds with individual units with a total capacity of up to 50 residents.
Tenders are also being called for the construction of a 25-unit social housing complex on an inner-city site at 23-25 Goulburn Street, Hobart.
It aims to increase the supply of social housing as part of the state’s Action Plan and has an estimated value of $9 million. The development will also generate local employment in the South and Greater Hobart regions of the state.
