Tenders called for Mangrove Cove construction

NSW commits $3B to build $100B construction jobs pipeline

The Western Australian Government has opened tenders for the next stage of works at Mangrove Cove in Bunbury.

The project will include construction of an accessible nature-play focused playground, a new accessible toilet block and further site landscaping.

The proposed developments at Mangrove Cove will build on and complement existing facilities, including the lookout tower and environmental education pavilion.

Environment Minister Stephen Dawson said the State Government values nature-based recreational opportunities, and the new upgrades will ensure that Mangrove Cove is universally accessible to all visitors.

“The Mangrove Walk trail around the Leschenault Inlet is already a highly popular attraction, and these proposed developments at Mangrove Cove will complement the existing facilities and create a valuable asset for local and regional visitors,” Dawson said.

“These upgrades are part of the State Government’s election commitment to maintain and improve the environmental, recreational, social and cultural values for the residents of Bunbury and surrounds.”

Bunbury MLA Don Punch said the project will only increase its attractiveness to residents and visitors alike.

“This is a highly appropriate use of this environmentally sensitive site with the development of a nature-based playground sure to be embraced by the community,” Punch said.

“I am particularly pleased that the high levels of accessibility in this project mean the playground will be available for everyone in our community to enjoy.”

The project is jointly managed by Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and the Department of Finance. Construction is expected to start in the first half of 2021 for an estimated completion in October 2021.
The Parks and Wildlife Service at the DBCA is calling on contractors to register for notifications and check for details of the tender advertisement at http://www.tenders.wa.gov.au
