Sydney Airport Metro builder shortlist unveiled

Two builders have been shortlisted to deliver key construction works in the Sydney Airport Metro railway line, a project expected support 14,000 construction jobs.

Two builders have been shortlisted to deliver key construction works on the Sydney Airport Metro railway line, a project expected support 14,000 construction jobs.

The successful tenderer will build more than 10 kilometres of viaducts, bridges and embankments that will support railway tracks and associated infrastructure.

The railway line will connect Greater Western Sydney and the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport.

CPB Contractors and Acciona Construction Australia have been shortlisted to deliver the works.

This contract will employ a range of civil engineering trades and specialist services including drainage and ground workers, steel-fixers and concrete workers, earthmoving plant operators, truck drivers, piling contractors, crane operators, general labourers, pre-cast operators, surveillance officers and security guards.

The contract is expected to be awarded in the first quarter of 2022.

The Federal and New South Wales governments are jointly delivering the 23-kilometre metro railway and six stations between St Marys and the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, including two stations at the airport.
