Engineering advisor chosen for Sydney urban renewal program

Renewal Transport for NSW has selected an Engineering Services Technical Advisor for Sydney's Central Precinct Renewal Program.

Transport for NSW has selected an Engineering Services Technical Advisor for Sydney’s Central Precinct Renewal Program.

Arcadis, a global design and consultancy firm for natural and built assets, will provide engineering design solutions for the program.

The Central Precinct Renewal will be a major urban renewal program in Sydney’s southern CBD. It aims to create a new place for business and the community by renewing 24 hectares of government-owned land.

A revitalised transport interchange will e built using the existing rail, bus, coach and light rail connections, along with the new CBD and South East Light Rail and Sydney Metro.

Employment spaces will also be created to anchor the proposed Sydney Innovation and Technology Precinct.

Senior Project Manager – Engineering for the Central Precinct Renewal Program Lindsay Baker said the firm was able to bring relevant experience from projects around the world to Sydney.

“Arcadis is now working in a collaborative team with Transport for NSW in the delivery of this city-shaping project,” she said.

Arcadis has recently helped to deliver the Sydney Metro projects, including the underground station design and technical services package on the City & Southwest.

Arcadis will be supported by Thornton Tomasetti, who previously provided engineering and construction services for the rail deck and over station structures for Hudan Yards in New York, as well as Indec who have extensive knowledge of rail operations within the Sydney area.
