Design and construct contract awarded for $107M hospital works

More than 500 construction sites around Australia are flying the flag of mental health and suicide prevention as part of the annual MATES in Construction ‘Fly the Flag Day’, in partnership with R U OK?

A $107 million design and construction contract has been awarded for the Wagga Wagga Health Service (WWHS) Stage 3 Redevelopment Project.

CIMIC Group company CPB Contractors were selected for the project, with construction expected to begin later this month, with operational commissioning scheduled for late 2020.

The WWHS3 Redevelopment project involved the construction of a new five-storey ambulatory care building adjacent to the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, 28 aged care beds, 24 rehabilitation beds, a 24-bed mental health inpatient bed and a 20-chair renal dialysis unit.

It will also include the construction of an education area and library, conference rooms and a lecture theatre along with a basement carpark.

The project aims to consolidate sub-acute, ambulatory, community and primary health services on a single site to meet the needs of communities in the wider Murrumbidgee Local Health District.
