Builder appointed to deliver four new schools

A building company has been appointed to build the last four of the 14 schools set to open in 2021 as part of the Victorian Government’s plan to deliver 100 new schools by 2026.

Kane Constructions won the contract to build the Cranbourne West Secondary School, Pakenham Henry Road Secondary School, Thoroughbred Primary School (Clyde North), and the Timbertop Primary School (Officer).

Builders have also been announced for Oberon High School, Docklands Primary School, Edgars Creek Primary School, Eynesbury Station Primary School, Footscray High School, Pilgrim Street Campus, Greenvale North West Primary School, Merrifield West Primary School, Rockbank North Primary School, Truganina South East Primary School and the Wollahra Primary School.

The schools aim to cater to the diverse needs of Victorian students, with the builders tasked with delivering architecturally designed infrastructure that inspires learning, change and empowers communities.

Around $6.1 billion has been spent to deliver new primary and secondary schools, upgrades more than 1400 existing ones and create more than 7500 construction jobs around the state.

“We know that Victoria’s population is booming – that’s why we’re building 100 new schools and upgrading existing schools to meet the needs of our growing communities,” Education Minister James Merlino said.

“This exciting appointment means families across the state are a step closer to getting the great local school facilities their kids need to thrive.”
