Hansen Yuncken has appointed George Bardas as chief executive officer, succeeding Peter Salveson, who is retiring after eight years in the role.
Bardas brings two decades of senior executive experience in commercial construction.
Hansen Yuncken co-chair and executive director David Beslich said Bardas’ leadership and track record in growing client-focused businesses made him the right choice.
“George will build on our commercial strategy and ensure we continue to deliver our vision to provide the services of a preferred building partner and employer recognised for our integrity and innovation,” said Beslich.
Co-chair and executive director Richard Hansen said Bardas’ strong networks and relationship-driven approach align with the company’s values.
“For more than 100 years, Hansen Yuncken has been at the forefront of Australia’s commercial building landscape,” he said. “Our enduring success is shaped by experience, a thirst for innovation, unwavering support for our people, and a relentless focus on delivering for our clients. We know that George is committed to these same values.”

“I look forward to hitting the ground running and meeting our clients, visiting our projects, and working with our dedicated 600-odd team members across New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.”
The board also acknowledged outgoing CEO Peter Salveson for his nearly three decades with the company, including his leadership since 2016.
