The South Australian Government has provided more than half a million dollars in grants to owners of State Heritage properties to undertake preservation and restoration works.
It is part of the SA Heritage Grants Program to ensure built heritage is protected and preserved for future generations.
The $500,000 budget will be divided into two rounds of $250,00, with up to $5000 available for simple projects, $10,000 for complex projects and $20,000 for major projects.
Heritage Grants will only pay up to 50 per cent of the anticipated costs of the works or documentation, with the recipient responsible for matching the funding. In-kind labour and materials may be recognised as part of this in some cases.

Conservation projects that benefit the public, support heritage tourism or activate under-utilised places may get special consideration.
Minister for Environment and Water, David Speirs, said the program’s primary focus is the conservation of significant South Australian heritage places and areas.
“South Australia has a rich architectural, historical and cultural heritage and the state government wants to see heritage places re-energised, either by adaptively reusing them, or by investing in them as tourism drawcards,” Speirs said.
“South Australians value heritage places and want them to be nurtured, re-vitalised and invested in so that they continue to give our communities character and connect people with the stories of our state’s rich history.”
Applications open for the first round of grant funding from 14 January 2019 and close on 15 March 2019.
