Consultation has begun with communities in the Sydney suburbs of Rydalmere and Pyrmont to determine strategic station options for Sydney Metro West.

Both locations will be considered for inclusion into the project, with construction set to begin in 2020.

More than 1600 surveys and 1000 submissions have been collected from communities about the Sydney Metro West project since 2016, with the project now looking to hear from locals about how they see their future areas.

Stakeholder and community feedback, affordability and feasibility and the stations ability to support employment and housing growth are the top considerations for the consultations, along with balancing travel times with number of stations.

Metro stations also aim to integrate into the current and planned transport modes to help commuters get where they need to go. Feedback will help confirm the final alignment for the project.

Seven stations have already been confirmed for the project at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North Five Dock, The Bays Precinct, and a Sydney CBD station location to be confirmed after further investigations and community feedback.

Survey information collected before 16 December 2019 will be considered by Sydney Metro as part of a strategic assessment of the station options.
