NT spends $1.5B on 622 construction contracts

A new Northern Territory-based $500 million methanol plant could see the creation of 1000 construction jobs.

The Northern Territory has awarded more than 622 construction contracts in 2018/19, spending $1.507 billion on construction in 2018-19.

This figure is $27 million above the recent budget estimate of $1.48 billion and comes alongside a $388 million improvement in the expected deficit.

Almost 99 per cent of the 622 construction contracts awarded went to local businesses, creating thousands of jobs.
