The Northern Territory has awarded more than 622 construction contracts in 2018/19, spending $1.507 billion on construction in 2018-19.
This figure is $27 million above the recent budget estimate of $1.48 billion and comes alongside a $388 million improvement in the expected deficit.
Almost 99 per cent of the 622 construction contracts awarded went to local businesses, creating thousands of jobs.

NT Treasurer Nicole Manison said the Territory Government’s number one priority is creating local jobs, which is why it has heavily invested in infrastructure.
“We know that the Territory economy has been challenging – following the wind down of the INPEX construction phase and the massive Federal Government GST cuts – and we are doing everything can to support Territorians.”
