For more than a century, the Engineers Australia Excellence Awards have brought the engineering community together to honour its greatest achievements and the people and projects that shape how society lives, works and creates.
Throughout September, Engineers Australia will shine a spotlight on outstanding engineers and projects from every state and territory. Local finalists are recognised for the vital contribution their work makes to communities across Australia and beyond.
This recognition also inspires the next generation and strengthens the future of the profession. Engineering impacts almost every aspect of life, and engineers are essential to addressing some of the greatest challenges of the modern era, from climate change and the energy transition to the circular economy and AI.
Engineers help build communities, drive technological advancement and foster productivity. Within this remit, some projects and people push the boundaries of innovation and deliver solutions that exceed expectations. The Engineers Australia Excellence Awards recognise these achievements and the dedicated teams who bring them to life.

This year, local finalists were selected following a rigorous judging process by a panel of eminent engineers. Entries were assessed on engineering practice, innovation, and impact on the community and environment. Alongside project awards, the 2025 program also honours individuals. The People Awards celebrate outstanding engineers at every career stage, while the Distinguished Career Awards acknowledge those who have made long-standing contributions to the profession.
The Excellence Awards are the pinnacle of engineering achievement in each division. They showcase the talent, innovation and commitment of local engineers and celebrate their success. Local winners will go on to represent their division at the national gala dinner, held at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, Sydney, on Thursday 13 November.
The gala is more than a celebration. It is an unparalleled networking opportunity. Guests will connect with leaders across infrastructure, energy, government, consulting and beyond; meet future collaborators, mentors and industry influencers; and celebrate side by side with Australia’s engineers and teams. The Excellence Awards gala dinner is the engineering profession’s night of nights. A black-tie event, it honours the people and projects making an enduring impact not only in engineering but across society at large. National winners will be announced live in the highest honours, including ‘Project of the Year’ and ‘Engineer of the Year’, alongside the Distinguished Career Awards categories.
